SteamCMD can't validate files on ZFS #2827
Comments
So, nobody cares, right? Nobody uses steamcmd or steam in zfs |
I quess ZFS is not that commonly used. |
I wouldn't say that. On Solaris/Indiana and BSD variants, it's quite common. |
I think this bug doesn't reduce to zfs... |
Someone claimed that the client doesn't seem to install on non-Ext3/4 filesystems, so it wouldn't surprise me that SteamCMD has the same issue and that ZFS is just the one that made this obvious. |
It’s a lower priority bug to be fixed, that is all. This is strictly a duplicate of #2533, though likely wants to be tracked separately so its not lost when the other bug is fixed. |
I didn't think to label it as a dupe because the other one was aimed at the Client whereas this is SteamCMD. Sorry about that. |
I don't how many steam products uses that procedure to do the verification, I think it's global. If steam is affected too there should be another product with the same behavior |
Asking for the source code to fix it myself its too crazy? |
I'm having this issue as well. I realize statistically this isn't a significant issue, but it means that I cannot use steamcmd on my server. |
@hellmind too crazy :) |
I cant continue with my project neither :( |
Steam also can't validate the files if you create an ext4 partition inside of a ZFS volume, same issue. |
still doesn't work? |
i hate when nobody cares |
It's not that nobody cares. Yes, it has been 2 months. However, as John said, it is a lower-priority bug than some of the others. |
So, how long till the low priority bug got fixed, a year? |
any progress on this? |
Well I doubt there has been any process. Its been so quit on here git. Valve team has so much to do. Porting games, fixing bugs, steam oss, steam and current games it has ported. |
I'm running SteamCMD on a debian 7 with zfs onlinux.
The problem is the validate option for app_upgrade
Every time I run it, start to download the whole game again.
Why SteamCMD can't validate like if were in ext3?
What SteamCMD do to validate a file?
How it calculates the hashes?
