This line https://github.com/Vanilla-OS/ABRoot/blob/8c0d48484ba8b758ea1f269a63ce1949dc5f22f8/core/system.go#L629C5-L629C5 produces the string ghcr.io/vanilla-os/desktop:main@ when using the -f flag for upgrade while there is no new image.

This is not a valid image name and will fail with "invalid reference format".
