At TPAC there was some consensus that folks would like more time to discuss this API through the WICG. Let's use this issue for scheduling and planning. I was planning on using the same basic technology to host the meeting (Google Meet), with a shared Google doc for queuing and note taking.

Possible time slots (in GMT) for a recurring / semi-recurring 30-60 minute meeting:

  • Monday: 3-3:30pm, 4-6pm, 8-9pm
  • Tuesday: 3-3:30pm, 6:30-7:30pm, 10:30-11pm
  • Thursday: 7:30-8:30pm

Unfortunately the list of interested people was not captured in the TPAC notes, so feel free to cc folks that you think would be interested. We can use this issue to align on a time slot, duration, etc.

This is a good idea. I can generally free up any of the time slots listed above.

I am interested in general but I'm wondering if this API has multi implementer interest? If so, which? Knowing that feels like an important basis for discussion, i.e. are we discussing something that is on track to become a proposed standard or are we discussing a single browser/engine specification?

@csharrison

Thanks John. I don't think we have any public statements of interest yet from other browser vendors but as this proposal is still in incubation that should be fine (the WICG charter does not require multi-browser support). We're also still iterating through lots of new ideas in this space that are at early stages like the aggregate conversion measurement, which you seemed to express some interest in exploring (e.g. some Prio-like solution) at the privacy CG F2F (minutes).

@johnwilander
Copy link

Sure, I'm not saying you're in any bad state or shouldn't incubate. 🙂 I just want to know what I'd be signing up for. I'd prefer it if we could isolate issues that are relevant for both Conversion Measurement API and Private Click Measurement. Would that be possible?

I don't want to limit the discussions in these meetings to just issues relevant to PCM, but I think we could certainly have meetings where that's the primary agenda topic.

Between @bedfordsean, @ajknox, and myself, we can make
Mon: 3-3:30pm and 4-6pm GMT (8-9pm GMT, 2/3 of us)
Tue: 3-3:30pm GMT

Thanks for organizing @csharrison!

@BasileLeparmentier

Hi Charlie,

Thank you so much for organizing this.

We are available for all the proposed schedule before 6pm GMT, after it is not possible for us, based in Paris, it would be too late.

Thanks again,
Basile

I would be happy to participate in this conversation (though this isn't an explicit implementer interest/intent to implement from Mozilla). I can do all of the suggested timeslots though the Tuesday ones are slightly more inconvenient for me.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone. It looks like we can meet the most schedules on Monday from 4-5pm GMT. Given that next week is the week of American Thanksgiving, I propose we first meet on Nov 30, from 4-5pm GMT, although if there are strong objections let me know.

We can use this issue for agenda curation in the meantime.

@eriktaubeneck

Thanks @csharrison for organizing! To clarify, from Nov 30 onward, do you intend to week weekly, or every 2 weeks (or some other cadence)?

@csharrison

Great question. I think we can stick with every 2 weeks unless it seems like we have a lot of material to get through and folks want to meet more often.

I added a link to a Google Meet in the issue description, along with a Google doc with a tentative agenda (@johnwilander there may be some topics of interest to you).

Feel free to use this issue to suggest further agenda items.

Let's schedule the next meeting for Monday, Dec 14 at 4-5pm GMT. I'll create a new notes / agenda doc closer to the call and provide meeting details.

As always, feel free to use this issue to propose agenda items.

Awesome. Since we'll have talked about our new spec https://github.com/AdRoll/privacy/blob/main/SPURFOWL.md in the next w3c meeting I wonder if it would be possible to talk about that within this group.

This coming Monday @johnivdel will present a new document we published on event-level VTC:
https://github.com/WICG/conversion-measurement-api/blob/main/event_attribution_reporting.md

If we have time we can also discuss a new proposal for cross device:

Just updated the call to clarify that we're now meeting at 3pm GMT, to accommodate the time zone changes that happened a while back. Let me know if this is an issue for anyone, though we have been at this schedule accidentally for the last couple meetings (my apologies)!

Hi Charlie,

Could I talk today (probably quickly) about the ML challenge that we are launching, described here #137 ?

Hey everyone, this will be our last meeting of 2023! On the agenda are two short presentations about recent papers we published:

  1. A blog post / paper about optimizing summary reports: https://blog.research.google/2023/12/summary-report-optimization-in-privacy.html
  2. An improved algorithm for label DP: https://openreview.net/forum?id=aG6xOP9QY7

Welcome back from the holidays! We don't have any major agenda items so I will be canceling the meeting today. Hoping to have a topic or two for next time as we ramp up into the new year.

@csharrison

Not too much to report this week, so we don't have many topics. On our end we are still figuring out the best approach to land the full flex functionality so it is mostly figuring out technical details.

Please propose any other topics here or in the minutes doc if folks want to meet.

Hi!

I am a bit confused - where can I find the file with the agenda? (I don't have access to the file linked a few comments above).

I have a few quick questions from my side, and I think a response in this issue will suffice:

Bests,
Michał

Hi @michal-kalisz , we accrue agenda items in this doc and in this issue (so you can just post here before a meeting to add something).

For these questions since they are just related to timeline, we can just repond offline (personally I don't know the answers off the top of my head - will need to talk to the team :) )

Hey folks, sorry for the late notice, but there are no agenda items added for today's meeting. I suggest we cancel and meet in 2 weeks.

Given these are often being cancelled, we should probably consider reducing the frequency.

Hey folks, let's cancel todays meeting as there is no agenda in the doc.

As noted above, we are going to look at moving this to an ad-hoc meeting given the drop in frequency here. If there are any questions or concerns feel free to raise them on this thread; and we can share some more information in the next week.

Thanks!
