What problem does this address?

When writing a post or page and hitting publish, you are taking to a publish panel that encourages you to take some final steps. When this panel is open, you no longer can see the option to preview the post or page. Tied to this, I imagine having quick access to see a full preview of your post or page would be ideal at this step before going live.

What is your proposed solution?

Add an option to preview your post or page in the publish panel.

Note: this touches on previous efforts here: #43023 but I see this as distinct as this wouldn't be about showing a preview but opening a preview.

cc @ellatrix as part of writing flow efforts.

Also, what seems illogical to me is that the pre-publish panel displays the site title and URL. Why not the currently-edited page's?

It's not much effort to drop in a preview link as well:

This here could be more helpful generally. What if it more closely represented search results, with the featured image, title, link, description, etc—with a clear preview link?

I had some time to see what I could fetch from the post object.

Pretty rough, but just wanted to see the content modelled off search results - if the featured image isn't available, then the site logo:

I lean towards a more holistic resolution for the publish checks rather than a stop-gap adding another UI element here. I know @auareyou is reviewing this view, alongside multi-editing. Perhaps we pause on this until there's a clearer big-picture take.

This was heavily discussed in #43023 ; maybe close this issue in lieu of that ?
(EDIT: sorry, I didn't read carefully) .

I noted this above and still think it's worth a separate issue.
