PCSC for USB deivce?

I'm trying to pass yubikey to sandboxed application in reliable way, and for that purpose PCSC fits best. However looks like USB devices are not supported by PCSC?
While ykman info shows information, fido2-token -d -L does not

Maybe there is a way how to make that works? Or it is not possible even in theory?

For the YubiKey specifically: Over USB, FIDO is only exposed through HID.
