hello,

i was able to fix the hw issue (dead battery) with my xperia device, updated it to latest sailfish 4.5, and tried to install/upgrade rockpool, described my problems here (sorry for commenting on the closed issue) and here (sorry, but you see i really need to install rockpool and have troubles with it).

so since i had problems with hardware, this makes me wonder if you consider making rockpool (which is amazing when it works) available on other linux devices, non sailfish.

i would package it for some operating systems. i use maemo-leste on motorola droid 4 and pinephone, and i already packaged amazfish, because it has a ui which does not require sailfish ui classes. i am able to use amazfish on pinephone under postmarketos and under maemo-leste, where i packaged it.

but i would really like to not be dependent on sailfish.

would you consider adding possibility to use rockpool with just any linux? that would make it possible to use it on postmarketos, mobian, maemo-leste and others.

If someone wants to add that then sure, but there's quite a lot of work to do on QML and platform adaptation. I'm not sure how much those other distros would have in common, but Amazfish is probably a good guide for that. I know Rockwork had a more Qt standard UI, but iirc that still had ubuntu components in there. Rockpool still has the structure for platform specific connectors in the daemon, so more could be added there (the ubuntu one is still there, but it probably a bit old). But the QML and the webview embedding would need to be split.

Maybe it would be easier to add pebble support to Amazfish.
