Main window doesn't appear at activation

The "Show main window feature at activation" feature doesn't seem to be working.

When I enable that feature in Preferences, make sure any main window is closed, and then attach a (formatted) UMS (USB mass storage) device (and wait a while (e.g, 20 s)), nothing happens.

However, if in the status menu I then click on the Preferences menu item, the main window opens up (along with the preference window).

(Further closing of any main window and clicking on the Preferences item (with no further disk attachments) seems to be inconsistent, sometimes also opening the main window and sometimes no doing so.)
