I'm on Ubuntu 13.04 64 bits

  • Download the Linux64 .deb
  • Double click to install
(Ubuntu software center issues some warning about the package not following best packaging standards or something)
  • install anyway
  • When clicking the new icon, nothing happens.
  • When trying to start from command line, the following can be read:

/opt/brackets/Brackets: error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Duplicate of #4720. Closing. Please see the workaround there to create a libudev symlink.

Also, I thought I had resolved the warnings about "bad quality". Guess I didn't. Can you file another bug with a screen shot if possible?

Thanks @DavidBruant for trying out the build. I'd like to get you up and running as fast as possible.

I have a problem with the Ubuntu software manager too. It keeps crashing or eating up the CPU (I'm guessing the issue is on the Ubuntu side, because it sounds too bad to be just a bad package).
I had seen the "bad quality" thing for 28 for sure. On 29, the only thing I could see was an empty (!) yellow box with a warning sign. I assume it is the same warning, but the buggy software center just doesn't show the message. I'll refile a bug when I have a firm confirmation.

Thanks for Brackets! I'm looking forward to being able to use it :-)

@DavidBruant One workaround you can try is to install on the command line: sudo dpkg -i brackets.deb.

I tried the symlinking trick and it worked so far. Thanks for the help!
