We currently manually trigger the download if we detect a new version, but we could leave all that to electron-updater by enabling the autoDownload option.
The reason I researched this is because I see multiple error reports on PostHog about the auto update system:
Auto-update download failed | Please check update first
Auto-update download failed | Cannot update while running on a read-only volume.
Checking for latest release version for manual download | Unexpected token '<', \"<!DOCTYPE \"... is not valid JSON
