@mistercrunch Can you also tell me about how I can contribute to Apache properly? I consider myself skilled enough to fix bugs and issues if guided. Kindly guide me in the right direction. Also, I am aiming to take a project under Apache in GSOC 2k19. It would be great if you could guide me in this regard.

A good place to start is the "Starter Task" label on our list of issues. Those issues should be fairly self-contained and generally a good place to start contributing.

As to how onboarding a project at the ASF, the process of joining the incubator is very well documented, I would encourage you to read that. Depending on your network, the hardest part may be to find mentors and a champion.
