Distinguish 62mm black and 62mm red/black

This package works great! I'm currently querying it to get printer status and paper type, to adapt printing to automagically print a matching image to whatever type of paper is loaded.
Only problem I have now, is I get "62mm endless" as a response to the 2251 tape… But printing with brother_ql to a 2251 tape without setting the --red flag results in red blinking and error printing.
Is there any way to distinguish the two tape types? I couldn't really find where in the code the tape response comes from… "kind of" newbie here
