I am having a laser crisis and am so sad. I'm sorry it's a little long but I am newer to the engraving world(got my engraver in May-ish.) I only have ever really used LaserGrbl.
(TL:DR- laser works fine, then after splicing 2 cables together for a new rotary the Y axis stops taking prompts from the software but moves freely manually, X-axis works just fine with software prompts. Replaced y axis motor it still did not work, un-installed and reinstalled LaserGrbl and driver, still didn't work, replaced control board still does not work, but x axis will move when plugged into either x or y power plug y will not move at all. Is there a software something I'm missing??
Two trees Stepper Motor, atomstack control board, vevor 20w blue diode laser engraver.
Full story-
I purchased a new rotary and it came with the wrong type of plug so someone recommended that I just splice the cords and put the plug from the old rotary on it. My husband spliced them but I think he had it wired wrong the first time as we plugged it in and it did not work. I went to use the engraver on its own, and now the y-axis will not work with computer prompts, but moves manually just fine (x axis moves just fine manually and with computer prompts). So we replaced the y-axis motor, thinking maybe it blew from the wrong wiring. So after replacing the Y axis motor, it changed nothing, so I read in some forums that it might not recognize the new motor so I un-installed the driver and LaserGrbl and reinstalled them, and it still didn't work, I tried a bunch of configuration setting changes I found and it still didn't work so we thought maybe we fried the control board. Replaced that and it still does not work. X axis still moves just fine whether plugged into the Y axis or x axis plugs from the control board. Is there a setting or software configuration I am missing? I just don't understand what else could be wrong as it's literally a brand new engraver at this point 😭
