Red recording area does not show in correct place when using custom area #18

If I set the recording area to custom and start recording, the red box that's supposed to be around what you are recording becomes almost fullscreen and sometimes appears in the recorded video.

For example, if I select a small square are in the top right for recording a wingpanel indicator, the red box fills the screen and overlaps the actual recording area, so is seen in the video file.

I don't know if this is reproducible on all devices or if it is just this laptop, so if it helps, my screen resolution is 3200x1800

I can reproduce this: I have also an hdpi display, so I ran
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface scaling-factor 2

Now screencast records the red border too.

ok... that makes sense...
unfortunately I haven't a hdpi display... I will check if one of my friends have one...

I tried also mouse highlighting und visualisation of clicks. Both are misplaced (more then 500px). I think the reasen is that I scaled my desktop.

Maybe you don't need a hdpi diplay and just change your scaling-factor?
