path autocomplete with bash commands

sorry for the basic question, I am new to atom.

I am able to invoke path autocomplete box with ctrl+space, however if type a bash function before it doesnt work. i.e.

ls ./  +  <ctrl + space>

doesnt invoke the autocomplete path box...

Are there additional keystrokes or perhaps package that enable this?
