PNG background is white, not transparent

I just tried to add a couple of (PNG) shields to a website with an off-grey background. Unfortunately, that doesn't look too good because the area in the corners is white instead of transparent.

Since PNG images do have an alpha channel, please fix that.

Is there a reason for which the use of SVG is impossible in your case? It seems to me that there is no negative aspects to it.
