In-Person Event Submission

Requirements

Event Demographics

  • This event commits to Event Diversity and Inclusion.
    • Q Detail the process for measuring Event Demographics.
    • A The demographics we're looking to gather for this event is the attendee's gender. We ask what is your gender, and we made sure it isn't required and it's optional for attendees to fill out.
    • Q Provide an example of an opt-out option on the Event registration page if available.
    • A Demographic questions on our registration are optional
    • Q Provide an example of a demographics text input box on the Event registration page if available.
    • A We allow attendees fill out their demographic themselves

Inclusive Experience at Event

  • This event commits to the Code of Conduct at Event.
    • Q Provide an example of the Event Feedback page if available.
    • A We will be sending out a post-event feedback form to both attendees and speakers. Asking question like but not limited to "How was your experience at the event? Anything you would like to share with us? On a scale of 1-5 how would you rate the overall event? do you have suggestions on how we can improve our events in the future?"
    • Q Is the event team using feedback from previous event's attendees, speakers, and volunteers to improve DEI at this event?
    • A This is our first event, however, the data gathered from this year's post-event survey will be considered when planning the next event
    • Q Does the event team plan to use feedback from this event's attendees, speakers, and volunteers to improve DEI at future events?
    • A Yes, we are committed to use our post-event survey to largely influence our decision for future events.
    • Q How can attendees learn more about accessibility at the event?
    • A We will be asking attendees during the event registration to share any accessibility needs they might have and we will do our best to attend to them.
    • Q Does the event platform allow attendees to suggest future accomodations for the event?
    • A No, it doesn't. But we encourage attendees to share any ideas with us prior, during and after the event to a primary person of contact

    • A Yes, it will be made available at the conclusion of the event via YouTube to everyone.

    • A We gave 20 tickets to women in tech, 10 to students, 10 to black girls in Tech, 10 to GitHub experts and we're opening up an unlimited number of diversity access ticket to the general public.
    • Q What are the criteria for qualifying for a diversity access ticket?
    • A There's no criteria to qualify for this. We are sharing in the community a form for people to fill out, collecting basic details like their names, email and why they need the diversity access ticket. (Please note that these questions are optional) Also, we shared on the event site a primary contact person for attendees to get in touch with if they have any concern.

@Ruth-ikegah is there anyway to add the information about the Diversity Tickets and Family Friendliness to the site? For these they're being required to join Slack to contact you in order to learn more about the tickets and family accomidations and to ask for a Diversity ticket but that might be a barrier for some.
