Getting a Mobile Wallet

Use these instructions to get a compatible mobile app on your phone that can receive, hold and prove your verifiable credentials. There are currently at least three options that you can try: BC Wallet, esatus and Lissi.

BC Wallet

The BC Wallet is an wallet for holding verifiable credentials built on top of Aries Bifold and published by the Government of British Columbia for both iOS and Android. To use BC Gov Digital Identity and Trust apps you just need to install the wallet and follow the initialization instructions.

Links to download the BC Wallet and more information about the wallet are available on the BC Wallet page.

esatus Wallet

esatus AG (English site) provides compatible Wallets for both iOS and Android. To use the esatus wallet for some BC Gov services, you need to install the app and do some initial setup. Please follow the setup instructions below after you install and open the esatus app.

After installing and opening the mobile wallet, follow these instructions to configure the wallet with appropriate permissions.

After setup, you will be taken to the main app screen ("Welcome..."). From there:

  • Go to settings by clicking the cog icon in the top right
  • Click on the "Change Ledger" item and from the subsequent list select one of the following:
    • If you are using a production service, select "Sovrin MainNet"
    • If you are using a proof-of-concept service, select "Sovrin StagingNet"
    • If you are using a proof-of-concept service that instructs you to use the BCovrin test ledger, select "BCGov Test Ledger"
  • Click the back arrow to return to the settings and again to return to the main app screen.

Note: Some BC Gov Digital Identity and Trust applications use the CANdy Dev, Test and Production networks. For those applications, the esatus wallet cannot be used. For questions, contact the BC Gov Digital Identity and Trust team at this email address: DITrust@gov.bc.ca.

That's it for the special instructions! Please return to the instructions for application you are using.
