Why does background color disapper?

I have a box and that works until I add a button. Please help!!

Another option that would help my work, is being able to stack a button ontop a image

Its a little hard to answer your question; all you've given us is a block of code, and told us that "it works" until you add a button. What "doesn't work"?

For your "another option" try button.style.update(padding_left= -400, padding_top= -400) directly after defining button (in same box as the image) ...

... and experiment with values above.
