CI broken

I tried to add/fix some minor things and the CI is failing with: https://github.com/blugelabs/bluge/runs/6067463579?check_suite_focus=true

We are pinned to an older v1.30 version of golangci-lint. I can get a newer version of golangci-lint to work locally (after updating the x/sys package).

So it seems like maybe some combination of newer golangci-lint AND merging this might fix the problem: #109

...but I'm a little concerned that might fix go v1.18, but break older...
