When browsing a direct PDF link, the download button from within the PDF viewer works, but if you try to go to File > Save Page as... it will prompt you twice for a download destination, and then give an "interrupted" completion message in the footer status bar.

I would think that if browsing to a link directly to a PDF file (https://www.blackhat.com/docs/us-16/materials/us-16-Jang-Breaking-Kernel-Address-Space-Layout-Randomization-KASLR-With-Intel-TSX-wp.pdf is the one I was viewing in the screencap) that saving the browsed-to page would save the actual PDF file.
