Can't display special characters like ↑↓ with conky.

I will start by saying that I don't think this issue is because I'm missing a font, I used to pipe the conky output thru genmon plugin using the same font and the special characters, like ↑↓ would show up, and I can still make them show up everywhere else using the same fonts except with conky itself. I also tried using override_utf8_locale yes and didn't work either.

I'm on arch linux with all packages up to date and on kernel 6.1.7.
