Not quite sure what is going on here so I'm just gonna dump information.
Currently on old switch.
Firmware: 15.0.1
AMS: 1.4.0|S

Installed according to a video tutorial. Files move fine and it seems to be working. However, there is no visible icon on hbmenu and my switch cannot connect to the internet. I'm met with errors no matter what I try. Store, In-game and even the Nintendo switch online timeout when opened.

Hi, this is not a support site, please go to discord or GBATemp, by the way, do not use YouTube Videos as guides for hacking, THEY WILL BE ALWAYS outdated or sometimes wrong, on your case as you are no reading the guides, you don't realize what SYS-FTPd is a SYSMODULE which means is no a normal homebrew, is a homebrew you run on background which allows in this case FTP connection to console.

There is no normal "icon" on HBL you can pause/resume running the server using the PLUS+MINUS+X button combination and the joy-con or joy-pro led of the home button will flash.

You always can use Sysmonitor overlay (TESLA) to look if a sysmodule is running and will be auto loaded on start.

I do recommend you to read https://rentry.org/switchHackingIsEasy to get familiar with the switch hacking.
