Home Page Change

  • We would need a landing page for the Sector Dashboard with a few lines description of the dashboard. Users should first be directed to that page if they click Sector Dashboard from the homepage of OBI and then can be directed from the home page to individual sectors or macro indicators. The following description can be used for the landing page of Sector Dashboard
The Sector Dashboard is a tool that facilitates comparison of aggregate budget indicators across different states and years. The indicators of expenditure data have been classified into eleven social and economic sectors. It enables users to make inter-state comparison of budget data by generating simple and interactive visualisations, which can be downloaded for reuse. Detailed descriptions are included to help users understand the specificities of calculation for the indicators presented. The dashboard also provides data on a few macro and receipts indicators across states.

Datasheet Changes

  • The order of the indicators will need some change. It can be
    Per Capita…
    Total Sector Expenditure
Total Sector Expenditure as a % of State Budget
    Revenue..
    Capital…
  • Under Frequency, in place of Annual, we canwrite Yearly to maintain uniformity across all our dashboards (currently the Schemes Dashboard also says Yearly)
  • In the data set, the words in title have dash (-) between them (Sector-specific-aggregate). That can be corrected.
  • In editorial notes, under units, instead of Percentage, we can just write ‘In per cent’ again to just maintain uniformity across dashboards
  • The Unit needs to be changed to In Rs. Crore
  • Under indicators, it would be better if we can add ‘health’ with the ‘sector’.

Explorer Page Change

  • We need to change the name of the dashboard from Story Generator to Sector Dashboard.
  • In the Choropleth view (maybe we can change it to Map View?), instead of saying Select a State, can we say, Hover on a State to see data.
  • We do not need a description after Health as such. Having a landing page with overall description for the dashboard should be enough
  • In the View Editorial Notes tab, let's keep the Concordance Table at the very beginning and then the definitions can be later added. Right now, I can only see the Indicator Titles and the concordance table is not showing in my laptop view.
  • The Data Source at the bottom can be reduced in font substantially
  • Instead of Editorial Notes, maybe we can use Sectoral Definitions to be more direct and intuitive for our users.
  • In the Table view, please have a look at all the columns, right now, in my laptop only the most recent three columns are showing.
  • In the Dataset tab, will there be a csv format as well like in Schemes Dashboard? One issue with the format is that even in SD, general notes that we would like to add under the table are missing on the dashboard and can only be seen when the excel file is downloaded by users. This has been communicated to CDL already.
  • In the Table view, when some data values are missing, we should write NA instead of leaving cells blank
  • To the extent possible, the Indian map can be increased, and the world map can be reduced.
  • In the table, not every column needs to have the name of the indicator. There can be a title to the table, and columns can have only the year.
  • In the table, the first column which has name of State/UT can be made left align
  • In the compare states, along the Y axis, there is something called ‘indicator’ in words. That can be removed as it is looking cluttered. Same is the case with x-axis
  • It would be good if we can add ‘data last updated on’
  • The ranges given on the left side are just numbers with no units. Adding units would make it more insightful.
  • Add LinkedIn Icon of OBI
  • Delete Search Indicators Bar- as we have a fixed number of fiscal indicators, so.
  • Data range should be based on a robust method and not arbitrarily. There must be a rationale / basis for such division and not five categories and should be exclusive in series formation. (point shared by Suraj)
  • We can consider using the same font type and size as used in Schemes Dashboard. It is much neater.
  • Can a scroller be added in the table view? Right now the entire table is not visible and one needs to click and scroll to view hidden cells. This is not very user friendly.

  • In the table view, we can delete the UTs, since we do not have data on them and they are taking up scrolling space.

  • In the table view, we need to mention BE, RE and A beside the year columns, as is applicable. Although the budget attribute selection button is there on top right, users coming to the table will get confused as to whether it is BE, RE or Actuals that they are viewing in the table. Same holds true for the downloaded data, budget attributes are not showing there as well.

  • It would be better to have the option of getting the entire table with all time points, BE, RE and A shown at one go with the scrolling right option. Maybe in the downloaded data, that can be done.

  • In the compare states tab, the x-axis and y-axis titles have got reversed and need to be fixed.

  • There should be an option of having the data-labels showing on top of the bar diagrams when one downloads it. With that, the graphs can become much more usable. (This can be taken up later as well)

  • In the Sectoral Definitions, no need to write 'Concordance Table' again. We can delete that. But the scroll down option needs to be given here since only Andhra Pradesh can be seen and unable to scroll down to see the other states.

  • When you hover over a state in the map view, amounts in the box might confuse users. For instance, the amounts are shown as '1341 In Rs.' instead of Rs. 1341. Similarly, other indicators as shares show '45 in per cent' instead of 45%. Addressing this would make it consistent and neater.
