If the backend crashes during an export (as in #204) the frontend does not show any error message but keeps waiting forever. We should change this

Also, there is no option to stop the export in that case. Even refreshing does not help, as the URL contains the export ID (this is intentional). There should be an option to exit a pending export and return to the landing page.
