Improve plugin via "best practices" to reduce load times & provide health checks

I don't know if I agree with all of these. For example, the "no automatic keymaps" given that you can disable them all. Additionally the "no setup function" given that we have specialized setup that needs to be applied before the plugin can function at all.

Some of the ftplugin logic might work well? Main thought is to reduce load times further on the plugin.
