Directions for Visualising Tangible Support in Arang Dak Using Visone

- Ensure that reciprocated links are superimposed/overlapped, not parallel/side-by-side, by:
- Bringing up the "Configuration" Pane by going to the taskbar (Mac) and selecting "File > Options"
- Setting "Multi-Link Distance" to zero
- Pressing "apply" and then "close"
- Load "Arang.Dak.Tangible.Support.Intersection.graphml" into Visone.

- One Network Snapshot/Wave for the 108 Adults (1,485 Ties)
- Left-hand Window Pane
- Select "Visualisation"
- Category == Layout
- Layout == Node Layout
- Node Layout == Backbone Layout
- Backbone Type == Quadrilateral Simmelian
- Under "Link Sparsification"
- Threshold == Percentage
- (Percentage of links) To Keep == 0.4
- SELECT Maintain/Yes next to Connectivity
- DESELECT "Backbone Strength" next to Link Colour
- SELECT Layout
- Press "Visualise" at the Bottom of the Layout Pane
- Visualise the direction of ALL links by pressing "Command + D" (on a Mac)
- Back in the Left-hand Window Pane under "Visualisation"
- Category == Mapping
- Type == Color
- Property == Link Colour
- Attribute == Close.Kinship.Numeric
- Method == Colour Table
- Scroll to the Bottom of Colour Mapping Pane and Choose Colours from the file:
"Relatedness Custom Colour Palette KARPFENBLAU_GOLD.pdf"
The Palette was created using the "unikn" R package (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/unikn/vignettes/colors.html)
- Click the colour for Value 1 (Relatedness = 0, Not Close Kin) to open the Colour Picker
- Select RGB
- Enter HEX Code FFD700 for Lemon Yellow
- Set Alpha/Transparency to 60
- Close Color Picker
- Click the colour for Value 2 (Relatedness = 0.125) to open the Colour Picker
- Select RGB
- Enter HEX Code ABCE75 for Lime Green
- Set Alpha/Transparency to 80
- Close Color Picker
- Click the colour for Value 3 (Relatedness = 0.156) to open the Colour Picker
- Select RGB
- Enter HEX Code 82CAAF for Sea-foam Green
- Set Alpha/Transparency to 80
- Close Color Picker
- Click the colour for Value 4 (Relatedness = 0.188) to open the Colour Picker
- Select RGB
- Enter HEX Code 62BFD3 for Blue Green
- Set Alpha/Transparency to 180
- Close Color Picker
- Click the colour for Value 5 (Relatedness = 0.25) to open the Colour Picker
- Select RGB
- Enter HEX Code 51A9D5 for Light Blue
- Set Alpha/Transparency to 180
- Close Color Picker
- Click the colour for Value 6 (Relatedness = 0.375) to open the Colour Picker
- Select RGB
- Enter HEX Code 4B8CC0 for Blue
- Set Alpha/Transparency to 180
- Close Color Picker
- Click the colour for Value 7 (Relatedness = 0.5) to open the Colour Picker
- Select RGB
- Enter HEX Code 4470AB for Navy
- Set Alpha/Transparency to 180
- Close Color Picker
- Click the colour for Value 8 (Relatedness = 1.0) to open the Colour Picker
- Select RGB
- Enter HEX Code DC0D0D for Cherry Red
- Set Alpha/Transparency to 255
- Close Color Picker
- Press "Visualise" at the bottom of the Colour Mapping Pane
- Export the graph as a PDF (on a Mac) by bringing up the
taskbar and selecting "File > Export"
