Just make sure you have qt5, qt6, and a full qt window management environment fully functional. 'harfbuzz 7.1.*' is the current pull. I'm not sure using tools such as Contour Terminal can be achieved in the limited proprietary environment provided by Microsoft. In Arch Linux, I recompiled my qt environment before compiling Contour as a few dependencies were a few months out of date, it's now my favorite terminal. |

Yes, well, I'm an ICT Specialist and maintain Linux, Mac, Unix and Windows systems. In a diagnostic computing environment Linux is the most useful and fruitful. Many business and gaming environments are forced to compute by MS's terms and I am sometimes disparaging when I should be more considerate. As I noted in my post above, the main difference I see in post is that the harfbuzz I successfuly compiled against was version 7, yours was version 6. This may be notable. |

Hey guys, sorry for the uber late response, I was busy family and work related. Did you sort it out already? Did you try to install from a .msi file as provided by the github release page, or even from latest master through Github CI? The latter should work. Do you need some explanation on how to get a recent .msi file? |

@splurben many thanks for the kind words, btw. I'm happy if people see a good use in the software we create :) Mind, for the Windows platform case, we're sadly bound to the features ConPTY let's us pass through, so it's slightly inferior to its MacOS / Linux pendants. But that's hopefully changing soon, with ConPTY pass through mode coming, eventually. |

I was just playing around trying to get a build going from the source code and ran into problems fetching the dependencies with the powershell script. Not a problem installing it the regular way from the release page, just wakted to have a look at the code and try understanding it for educational reasons 😀 Glad to hear it will get even better with ConPTY passthrough in the future. |

Very nice. If there is something that needs more explanation, @adriancostin6, please keep asking. It might also make sense to join us on Discord, there you should be able to get a more realtime'ish response. What is the background of this motivation? I could maybe write up (or video record) a rundown of the layers in Contour and what a terminal emulator should have as a minimal set of features to function for things like vim (it's surprisingly not much) |

Helllo everybody,
When trying to get a local build of Contour on my machine, I got stuck at installing all the dependencies with the powershell script. It errors out when trying to build harfbuzz.
After having a closer look at it, my best guess is that this is a vcpkg issue, as I was able to build harfbuzz just fine on it's own. Granted, I have done so using GCC, not MSVC. Is there any way to be explicit about which compiler I want vckpkg to use?
