If there is a major error (e.g. problem with schema) the source file content disappears.

User kept the wrong processing instructions in her document and got the error "Error validating document" message. She went into View Source to try to fix it and her document was blank. Another time her document had the top of her document (processing instructions) but the later part had been replaced by a statement to do with a parsing error.
