Substituting multiple steps

• Is there a way to substitute multiple files with the same variable.

Also improvement:
If there would be an option for in-place substitution, and hence I wouldn't have to specify the output file.

This is interesting, but I have doubts about it, often I need work over a placeholder or example file, for instance one called dev.env without any sensible information, after process this file, my resulting env is called .env, so, at the end I need to generate a new file or rename the template file, in consequence looks like the same.
