Describe the bug

Hi, first of all i would like to thank you for this amazing software, i just love it and haven't had any issue with number of cameras and lenses i've used. It is a true masterpiece!
To the problem: right now I'm using Hasselblad X2D with XCD 38V lens and was not able to do lens corrections. Every time it gives error and shows camera/lens not found. I've checked documentation and it looks like this camera should be supported. I've tried updating Lensfun (well, to my poor abilities, it is complicated task and i've found a way to do it via downloading archive from github and than taking .xml files from data folder to version_1 folder in Darktable, but it only made things worse - before software was able to display both camera and lens (though not doing correction itself) , but now it shows only lens but no camera. Any ideas how to solve this? I really don't want to use Hasselblad Phocus since its terrible and i've grown used to amazing Darktable.
Thank you for any reply in advance.
P.S. i can supply 3fr image if needed.
P.S.S. There is question "Where did you obtain darktable from?" Since there is no custom reply i will write it here - I install and update it via Chris Titus Tech's Windows Utility https://github.com/ChrisTitusTech/winutil

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Hasseblad 3FR iamge
  2. Try doing lens correction

Select it manually from the dropdown menu?

When i press there nothing is in the menu, its empty. Probably from the way i've tried to update the Lensfun .xml files. But i did not understand any other way to do it. Nevertheless, even when i was able to select - the issue was there before i've messed up with lensfun data.

If following instructions for manually updating the database, be sure to update the v1 files, not the v2 files (different data format).

The database can also be updated by running lensfun-update-data. Since you're on Windows, I'm not sure how to install that utility if it isn't already available.

Btw, you might get more help from other users at https://discuss.pixls.us/c/software/darktable/19 (and search for similar lensfun related topics, especially the ones on updating it from Windows), before deciding if this really is a darktable issue that needs further attention.

I will check it out, thank you! The problem was persistent before i started doing something with lensfun, that was the initial reason to try finding a solution, which did not work that good for me.

(Edited the original reply) It seems like the database now is only v2 and v1 is not really supported anymore, so no way to update it manually to v1. Moreover, looks like my particular lens is not supported by lensfun either. I managed to fix the issue of draktable not reading lensfun by completely reinstalling it, but problem is still there since lens is not supported. So it looks like Darktable itslef has nothing to do with it except supporting only legacy v1 verson (which raises the question that if the lens become supported at some point, will darktable be able to read it).
P.S Please correct me if i'm wrong, but why do i need the lensfun database in general? I though that it should use data imbeded in raw to do the corrections, am i misunderstanding something?
