I know you have said this class is designed only for plugins hosted on WordPress.org. I'm wondering if you'd be willing or interested to add support for plugins hosted on GitHub?
I'm not sure how possible it would be, perhaps it would require an entirely different approach...
We use Git Updater, which enables automatic updates of themes and plugins via GitHub. But making the initial installation as easy as possible is the current goal. Anyway thanks for your time and efforts!
