Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

As Kay I want pipeline templates I can refer to so that I can more easily construct a pipeline that meets security requirements outlined by my AO.

Describe the solution you'd like

  • Given I have an application I want to build a pipeline for
  • When I login to Software Factory
  • Then I should see a catalog of templates I can use to build out a pipeline for my use case.

Additional context

For now, this issue should be geared toward a design doc discussion how we define these templates, how they are going to be used, and what they will be built for (and what they won't). This should assume the following:

  1. We are building pipelines for GitLab CI in the .gitlab-ci.yml format
  2. Build and test stages should be more controllable by a developer than more security-relevant stages (where applicable)
  3. Security-relevant stages should be aligned to services we offer and be aligned to RMF controls.
