Using a calendar view for all information on such a small screen doesn't make sense. Let's rethink what a calendar should do and how to visualize it! (Wireframes will follow)

@MalteBartels Are we sure that we will stick to the continious lines on the left side time bar? I not sure about wether it looks better without.

@hendriku You can have a look at my current design progress here:

I think this is a better solution than #26 (branch for designs). Shall I close it?

To your design:

  • I like the approach of doing a donut diagram for displaying the current state and breaks and lecture times. Maybe it looks a little bit to scientific, I don't really know, but the legend on the right of the card kind of reminds me of weird excel diagrams, maybe we can minimalize information.
I would like to see wether we could combine our current state of design (conservative day agenda) maybe on the button of this dognut and drop therefore the legend on the right. Maybe this would look cleaner but also nice.
  • The analog clock looks nice. Yes it is redundant but I think it's very fancy. It gives the app a recognizable touch.
  • I don't know If we should use that much different colors. This looks like a bit to much in my opinion. I don't know why but less color look more business like which is maybe not wrong for our purpose.
  • You dropped the time information on the week card. Do you think we don't need it?
  • Could you also make a design where the background of the cards is just constant? (pick one of the colors you used, or even two designs with both) Maybe the app will then have a cleaner look too. Currently the colors even the red are kind of loud. Maybe you could take care of this too.
  • I just love the tomorrow card. Just remind the color composing item.
  • I understood the week graph which uses red negative color for monday and more positive colors till weekend. I like this approach but I think maybe we should orientate not on mon to frid, but on the total amount of minutes on this day. I recommend to use only less color, accients of red to orange maybe even yellow but no blue or green. This may be too much 'summer stye' ;)

Thx for your feedback. Some quick thoughts:

  • The week card isn't finished yet, so the time will come back. I just don't know how yet.
  • Definitely lesser colors, it was an experiment
  • A constant card background doesn't separate enough between the card content and description. This is why I didn't use it.
  • The donut definitely needs to look more normal and not scientific. I don't get how you want to combine the two approaches.
