ns-3-dce RELEASE NOTES
This file contains Direct Code Execution release notes (most recent releases first).
Please refer the page https://www.nsnam.org/projects/direct-code-execution/ for detailed instructions
Release dce-1.12
================
In order to use DCE, please use the bake tool to install DCE. DCE 1.12
is designed to be used with the ns-3.35 release, and the bake tool
orchestrates a coordinated build of ns-3, DCE, and supporting packages.
Instructions for this release can be found at:
https://ns-3-dce.readthedocs.io/en/dce-1.12/getting-started.html
Tested platforms
----------------
- Ubuntu 20.04
This release is not tested on newer Ubuntu releases. Other Linux platforms
have not been tested.
New user-visible features
-------------------------
This release upgrades DCE to work on Ubuntu 20.04 from Ubuntu 16.04. This
is due to the work from Parth Pratim Chatterjee, described more fully here:
https://ns-3-dce-linux-upgrade.github.io/
Due to some changes in the glibc installed in newer Ubuntu releases, DCE now
has to build a custom glibc, and as a result, the disk space requirements for
the build have increased to between 12 to 15 GB.
The underlying ns-3 release compatible with this version is ns-3.35.
Bugs fixed
----------
- (pull request 132) Fix bug in dce_vasprintf
- (pull request 133) Fix bug in dce_internalClosedir
Release dce-1.11
================
In order to use DCE, please use the bake tool to install DCE. DCE 1.11
is designed to be used with the ns-3.34 release, and the bake tool
orchestrates a coordinated build of ns-3, DCE, and supporting packages.
Instructions for this release can be found at:
https://ns-3-dce.readthedocs.io/en/dce-1.11/getting-started.html
Tested platforms
----------------
- Ubuntu 16.04.7
This release will not work on newer Ubuntu releases. Other Linux platforms
have not been tested, and in general, are not expected to work with this
release due to the narrow combinations of g++ version, glibc version, and
Python 3 support needed for this release.
New user-visible features

- Update ns-3 version supported from ns-3.28 to ns-3.34
- General update to use Python 3 instead of Python 2
