 Currently, there's a lot of great tools out there, but many of them are closed-source and creating a new tool means starting from near zero. By exposing as much of the data this tool operates on to any developer via an API, the hope is that more people can leverage this tool as a platform for their own innovations and not worry about the nitty gritty details of *getting* the data 😀.
