Problem when trying to contribute

Hello,
I have downloaded the source code of docfx, to analyze how it works and to add features.
Unfortunately, I can't have it to run correctly.

I have a project that is working correctly with the installed version of docfx, but that crahes when I'm running the compiled version.
The error I have is the following:

If I read this correctly, the errors are when reading a file that is generated by docfx.

Initially, I had only the .NET 8 SDK, but I have also installed the .NET 6 SDK and the .NET 7 SDK.
The installed node.js is version 22.0.0.

If you have any suggestion on how to make it work, it would be great.

Above warnings seems to be caused when docfx built-in templates is not build.
Is following steps are executed before building docfx projects?

And ApplyTemplateRendererError seems to be caused by custom template.
What's templates are specified at docfx.json config?

Hello filzrev,
Thank you for your help: I missed the step to build the templates, thinking that compiling will do all automatically.

I can now run docfx against my assemblies in release mode.

When running docfx in debug mode, I have a Debug.Assert that is not true: at the following line: Reference.cs, line 144.
If I look at the variables, I have https://learn.microsoft.com/dotnet/api/system.collections.generic.ienumerable-1.getenumerator at the left and System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable{0}.GetEnumerator`at the right.

Debug.Assert on ReferenceItem.cs

I thought It's caused by multiple named ValueTuple are defined.
It's tracked by #8695.
