How to add HiJackThis root certificate

That is how you see the program launch at the moment. The publisher is "Unknown", because certificate authorities does not respect the law especially EU GDPR, forcing me to refuse buying the certificate in favor of preserving my personal information: image

The walkaround is the following:

  • Open HiJackThis.exe file properties (RMB on file => Properties).

  • Open "Digital signature" tab, select any of 2 signatures and press "Details" button

  • Press "View certificate" button

  • Press "Install certificate" button

  • Select "Local machine" and press "Next" button

  • Apply with "Yes" if UAC window is appeared
  • Select "Place all certificates in the following storage", then press "Browse..." button and select "Trusted root certificate authorities", then click "OK", "Next" and "Finish".

  • Now you may close all windows.
  • When you run HiJackThis.exe, the following publisher and description should appear:

Also the digital signature verification should fully be passed:

If you even want to remove this certificate for some reason, you may do it with Win + R, and run "certmgr.msc" snap-in
