For images with captions, the shortcode should be removed or processed. The export has it as thus:

[caption id="attachment_67521" align="alignright" width="300"]<img class="size-medium wp-image-67521" alt="Alt Text" src="http://domain.com/perma/link/to/image.jpg" width="300" height="225" /> Alt Text[/caption]
