Spaces in Per-directory name patterns restrictions

I have a directory containing a few subdirectories, I can block access to all subdirectories using the ACL's but I cannot work out how to make one subdirectory visible as the name contains spaces, it's named something like Shared - Phase 1 . Is there a way to include the spaces in the restriction? I've tried using quotes and \ but the spaces are always removed from the acl when saving.
