Currently, I have replaced auto-session.nvim with a custom script, but I could actually just use the builtin vim sessions feature. Like :mks! <place-to-save> and then :source <place-its-saved-to> and then have a global place to save it (e.g. $HOME/.local/share/nvim/sessions).
