I'll say the same as in #242: you do not need to set any I2C-related stuff for this DAC, it is not an "intelligent" DAC with software control, so ignore those settings.
If this does not work, the problem is with either the DAC module, the PCB, or your soldering. Start by testing continuity for each DAC signal pin back to the Pi. Some fluxes can be conductive and ruin the high-frequency data signals, so clean it all off. Otherwise, replace the module. |

I can't add anything else to what Dale has already said. I will check when i get home the jumper settings on the back of the DAC if they are correct or not. I didn't change them from factory. |

Thanks both for the help! Turns out that Pin 40 on my GPIO is bad?! tried on a Pi 4b and it works totally fine. Guess my Pi3B+ has an issue. Is there a way to modify the board or code to use a different pin? |

Hoping someone can help me. I have got everything working with This Pi hat https://github.com/chris-jh/mt32-pi-midi-hat except I cannot get the DAC output working. It does output to the Pi's headphone jack if I change the config to pwm so I know the rest works fine. (Ignore the flux on the header pins, will clean it off once I get it working )
I have followed these instructions https://github.com/dwhinham/mt32-pi/wiki/GY-PCM5102-DAC-module
But even if I connect the DAC directly to the Pi and run i2cdetect ( to see if it shows the address ) it shows nothing like in the photos. Did I get shipped dud modules or is there something else I am missing? Any help would be appreciated.
