How do I sign the agreement?

We ask that you sign the agreement digitally and email it to us. Here's how.

Choosing the correct agreement to sign

The text of the freelance agreement can be found in the freelance-agreement.md file.

You will also notice that there are several PDFs in this sub-directory. The only difference between these and freelance-agreement.md is that the dates and rate per hour in the Financial Consideration section have already been added to the PDFs for your convenience.

Each PDF starts with a date stamp in the format 'YYYYMMDD' so please download the appropriate one for the time you'll spend with us and double-check the details are correct.

Signing the agreement

On Mac

  1. Open the agreement in Preview.
  • Scroll down to the Signature area.

  • To add text:

    • Go to Tools > Annotate > Text
    preview-annotate-menu-for-freelance-agreements
    • This will add a box with the word 'Text' to your document - drag it to wherever you want to write:
    preview-add-text-for-freelance-agreements
    • Click on the text to alter it.

  • To create your signature:

    • Go to Tools > Annotate > Signature > Manage Signatures...
    • Click on preview-create-signature-for-freelance-agreements and follow the instructions to create your signature
  • To add your existing signature:

    • Go to Tools > Annotate > Signature
    • Click on the one you want to use and drag it to the location you need

On Ubuntu

dwylers @jasonspd and @anniva have recommended this approach in issue #35.

  1. Using the Ubuntu Software Centre, download and install Xournal xournal-ubuntu
  • Go to File > Annotate PDF and add your signature, name, and date to the PDF

  • Go to File > Export to PDF and save the annotated PDF xournal-ubuntu-annotate-pdf

On Windows

On Windows, you can just use Adobe Reader: http://www.howtogeek.com/164668/how-to-electronically-sign-documents-without-printing-and-scanning-them/
