EasyBuild v3.0.0 (roadmap)

List of issues & pull requests that should get handled before EasyBuild v3.0.0 is released (planned to go out by mid November'16).

note: the plan is to limit things to 5 'major' changes that are still "in flight" (to help with focusing things); as the mentioned pull requests get merged, this list can be updated/extended

framework

backward incompatible changes

• make robot aware of archived easyconfigs (--consider-archived-easyconfigs)
  • add support for --consider-archived-easyconfigs easybuild-framework#1972
• let robot consider subtoolchains, even without --minimal-toolchains
  • --minimal-toolchains should only reverse the order in which toolchains are considered
  • make robot always consider subtoolchains, even without --minimal-toolchains (but in reverse order) easybuild-framework#1973
• change default configuration
  • Lmod as modules tool + Lua as modules syntax
  • enable --minimal-toolchains by default (?) => no, not for now
  • change default config to use Lmod/Lua for modules tool/syntax, GC3Pie as job backend easybuild-framework#1985
• get rid of currently deprecated functionality
  • log.error should no longer raise
  • clean up behaviour that was deprecated for EasyBuild v3.0 easybuild-framework#1978

• support for RPATH linking

• enhancements to GitHub integration

  • --new-pr and --update-pr no longer experimental?

easyblocks

• let GCC give lib subdirs preference over lib64 dirs
  • give /lib preference over /lib64 & co, enable installation of libliberty by default easybuild-easyblocks#1030
• Conda easyblock
  • Easyblocks for Anaconda and Conda Env easybuild-easyblocks#950
• make easyblocks aware of --rpath where needed
