A follow-up of #5416.

from @kittaakos :

if you remove the commit button, could you adjust the Git toolbar contribution as well? We could get rid of the sign off by and replace the checkmark (commit) and refresh icons.

+ use octions for status bar

We should decide whether we switch to vscode extension or will keep ours for more control. If the latter then this issue make sense.
