Kibana version: 7.13.2

Elasticsearch version: 7.13.2

Server OS version: Windows Datacenter

Browser version: Google Chrome 91.0.4472.124

Browser OS version: Windows 10 OS Version 2009 (Build 19042.1083)

Original install method (e.g. download page, yum, from source, etc.): Download page

Describe the bug:
Whenever you activate the Show dots settings for line graphs and then change the graph to an area graph this setting remains on and the area graph line shows the dots.

In my use case this settings also turns itself on when doing term aggregation over a stacked area graph even if you never go trough the line graph visualization. It also happened when migrating said stacked area graphs from Kibana 7.7.0 (on Amazon's ELK service) to 7.13.2 via saved objects.

This is an issue because the area graph's Metric & Axes doesn't have the option to show the dots (meaning that when it happens on it's own as a user you have no idea how to turn them off)

I've worked around this by changing the area graph to a line graph, disabling the show dots option and switching it back to a line graph.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a line graph.
  2. Turn show dots option on
  3. Convert line graph into area graph
  4. Area graph now has the dots enabled and the only way to disable them is to transform it back into a line graph

Alternative steps:

  1. Create a stacked area graph with term aggregations in Kibana 7.7.0
  2. Import said graph into Kibana 7.13.2
  3. The show dots settings is on by default despite the fact you can't turn it off unless you convert your graph into a line graph.

Expected behavior:
The area graph should have the slider to turn dots off. Alternatively, this setting should not apply to area graphs.

@Mauro-Rizzi thanx for submitting this issue!
This bug has been solved in 7.14

We have given more settings about dots for lines and areas.
