Today it is not possible to filter by service name without know kql syntax and knowing the field name (service.name).

To make this easier the search bar should by default filter by service.name. If the user wants to take advantage of kql they should be able to switch back to the previous search bar

To change back to kql behaviour:

  • Setting in Advanced Settings to set the default search behaviour
  • UI Toggle similar to Uptime for easily switching between kql and service.name filter behaviour

Questions:

  • Should the setting be stored in local storage or in Kibana Advanced Settings
