Short Url to share saved searches #15287
Comments
The reason we haven't added this in the past is because you can just remove the cruft from the URL to get a direct link to a saved search. In your example above, it would be http://localhost:5601/app/kibana#/discover/f8839a20-a90e-11e7-bf8f-fb68da13a145. Does that work for you? |
Thank you for that Information @epixa. That should work for us. |
@jbrischle I'm glad that works for you. @elastic/kibana-sharing what do you think about the proposal to add a short url for the saved object? |
Seems reasonable, though we still have the issue that short urls remain forever in the database. Another option that might help is encoding the parens. Anyhow, we can leave this open, since we have it available for snapshots, I don't see a good reason we shouldn't also have it available on the saved version. |
Pinging @elastic/kibana-data-discovery (Team:DataDiscovery) |
As of #156275, we no longer include global state in saved search share links, which significantly reduces the size of the URL. Since there hasn't been activity on this issue in a long time, and we have no plans to add short URLs for saved search share links, I'm going to close this issue. If you believe this feature should still be considered, please reopen it with a comment. |
In #1553 you already introduced short URLs for sharing snapshots.
Please provide short URLs for saved searches too.
Problem:
If you simple Copy Paste the Long Urls into Confluence or Jira for example the last two "))" get cut away from the clickable link. Workaroung in Jira and Confluence, is to use the Link Plugin.
Example Link:
http://localhost:5601/app/kibana#/discover/f8839a20-a90e-11e7-bf8f-fb68da13a145?_g=(refreshInterval%3A(display%3AOff%2Cpause%3A!f%2Cvalue%3A0)%2Ctime%3A(from%3Anow-5y%2Cmode%3Aquick%2Cto%3Anow))
