Dynamic process diagram visualization

I've come across this a few times during discussions with the community, but there does seem to be a need to create a custom process diagram that is dynamically adjusted and styled. Canvas can get you through the manual creation of multiple elements. But it'd be nice to link to particular entities and have them adjust in real time, allowing users to define the metrics that are important to show and how they should be styled.

Could you perhaps give an example of how you imagine the data behind that chart to look like in ES? Are nodes individual documents or aggregated results? How are the links and the grouping in swimlanes be represented in the data?

I think a service map is very similar to this request. Someone who wants to do process mining "just" needs to follow the data scheme that we have to power service maps..
