If you create a metrics in TSVB and choose to split it with the "Group By" functionality, you only have so many customization options for the colors of your series. You can either choose a gradient of your original color or a rainbow option.

Visualize in Kibana allows you to click into a series and edit the color, no matter how it was defined. This interaction in different in TSVB. Clicking into a series label in the legend will filter the chart on that series.

Basically, we have users looking for the same color definition capabilities that visualize has, in TSVB.

We have a client who is literally looking for this feature in TSVB to be able to manually pick colors for each of the items in a group by aggregation. It's be great if this could be added.

note: elastic-charts is now used in TSVB and has already the ability to click on the legend and change the color on the series. It just needs to be wired within TSVB

Yes please, I've bumped into this just today. It'd be great if that feature could be added.

We are not going to support this in TSVB but we are going to support it soonish in Lens. I m closing this as we are tracking the support in Lens in other issue
