This document outlines the estimation methodologies that electricityMap uses to create the most accurate and useful data possible.
- Time Slicer Average is used for filling holes where data is missing from the provider.
- Construct Breakdown is used to construct production breakdown for zones where real-time, hourly data is unavailable.
- Reconstruct Breakdown is used to re-construct production breakdown for zones where the real-time hourly data we obtain from public sources is either too unreliable or incomplete to be integrated as is into electricityMap.
- Zone specific models:
- AE & OM & QA: United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar
- CH: Switzerland
- IE & GB-NIR: Ireland and Northern Ireland
- IN: India
- JP: Japan
- NL: The Netherlands
For now, only specific zones are estimated, but we are constantly working on expanding the list 🌍
